DESCRIPTION: Camp Cayuga is a coed nonsectarian sleepaway camp located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of northeast Pennsylvania. Family owned and operated since 1957, Cayuga caters to normal average children of the ages 5 to 15. EQUESTRIAN: Horseback riding instruction for both english and western styles, from beginner to advanced levels. Facilities include: 25 horses on the premises; petting zoo; 2 instructional riding rings; and over 5 miles of scenic trails.

ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF: The responsibilities of Camp Cayuga's Administrative Staff involve the coordination and completion of numerous tasks integral to the operation of our summer camp. The Office Staff member is expected to be a team player in helping to carry out the principles and policies as well as the objectives and philosophy of Camp Cayuga. The Office Staff member is responsible for answering the camp telephones. Since most incoming telephone calls are made by camper parents, it is crucial that the Office Staff have excellent telephone manner. The Office Staff member is expected to greet all visitors who arrive at the office. Visitors may be parents who want to see their children at camp or other parents who want a tour of our facility. For this reason, it is expected that all Office Staff have an appreciation for public relations. The Office Staff member is responsible for inputting data in the camp computer. This includes, but not limited to, logging-in the campers' weekly activity selections, printing daily camper activity cards, logging-in prospective campers on the camp's mailing list, etc. The Office staff member is responsible for mailing out Camp Cayuga's promotional literature to all prospective camper families in a timely fashion.
MEDICAL STAFF: Accepting positions for Registered Nurses (RNs), Nurse Practitioners, LPNs, EMTs and MDs. We have 4 and 8 week positions available. Our infirmary is modern and comfortable, and houses Cayuga's medical staff members, including private accommodations with private bathrooms. We cater to normal/average children. The County Hospital is only 10 minutes from camp.

SOAR is an outdoor and experiential education program utilizing 10, 12, 18, and 26 day expedition style adventures with youth diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders and/or Learning Disabilities. Programs are co-ed, students are between the ages of 8 - 18, and groups consist of 7-8 students with 2 staff. Course sites include the North Carolina Smokies, Florida Keys, Wyoming, and California's Big Sur. Activities include: Rock climbing, whitewater rafting, backpacking, orienteering, llama treks, horsepacking, mountain biking, caving snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, and sea kayaking.
Outdoor Trip Leader
RESP: Supervise a group of 7-8 students (2 staff per group), for 24 hours a day, on 10 to 26 day courses; facilitate a safe and successful experience during the adventure based portions of the course; facilitate the development of life skills, organizational skills, self-esteem, problem-solving strategies, communication techniques, and social skills; assist in developing personal goals for each student; write a comprehensive student evaluation at the end of each course; and act as a role model for students by demonstrating maturity, responsibility, good organizational skills, and professional behavior.
QUAL: Minimum 20 years of age (21 and older preferred); 2 years of college experience, in human service related field preferred (e.g., Education, Psychology, Recreation); current first aid and CPR certifications (minimum WFA required for NC and WY staff; Lifeguard required for FL and CA staff); experience and/or desire to work with LD and AD/HD youth; patience, energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, maturity, and integrity required; experience in and/or desire to learn outdoor adventure activities; strong organizational and time management skills preferred.
Activity Specialist
RESP: Work with groups of 7-8 students with 2 instructors to facilitate a safe and successful experience during the adventure activity portions of 10 to 26 day courses.
NC & WY: set rock climb sites and act as site manager; facilitate and manage high ropes course activities; support whitewater rafting days; support caving activities; potentially lead mountain biking activities; provide relief to instructor's in the field; work with youth in-between courses. WY only - support flat-water canoeing and riflery
FL & CA: facilitate use of ocean water craft such as motor boats or jet skis (FL only); facilitate water-based activities such as sea kayaking and snorkeling; manage logistics for groups during and between courses including managing, repairing, and transporting group gear and purchasing of food during course; provide relief to instructor's in the field.
QUAL: Minimum 20 years of age (21 and older preferred);. Minimum of 2 years college experience, preferable in Recreation Therapy, Outdoor Recreation, Education, or Psychology. First Aid and CPR required (minimum WFA required for NC and WY staff). Lifeguard certification required for FL and CA staff. Strong experience required in technical skills such as rock site facilitation and management, ropes course facilitation, white water rafting, caving, mountain biking, or ocean/water activities (FL & CA only). Patience, energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, maturity, and integrity required. Use of personal vehicle required for NC & WY (vehicle stipend provided).
