What we're all about...
WAMP helps transform the lives of physically challenged kids and young adults through unique wilderness programs. The profound life-changing impact that the programs have on children who are able to participate is unimaginable. Many of our participants challenge themselves to accomplish daily living activities that their families or caregivers usually provide for them.WAMP participants experience a transforming change in skills, capabilities, and attitudes. As one participant stated: 'I now realize that I'm NOT just physically challenged, I've got so many things to do and accomplish!' The objectives and outcomes of WAMP, for each participant, include:Increase overall physical, leisure, and social capabilitiesDevelop physical competenciesDevelop compensating skills and confidenceDevelop outdoor experiences and skillsFoster emotional, social, and physical independenceDevelop a sense of personal worth and self-acceptanceRealize that there are clear opportunities for a normal lifeThere is no other wilderness experience to match the value of such an achievement and transformational experience. Our program are a catalyst in the development f self-confidence and motivation leading to increased optimism toward achievement in life.
