NEW YORK SUMMER MUSIC FESTIVAL *NYSMF*

What we're all about...
The New York Summer Music Festival returns to SUNY Oneonta for its 7th great summer of music, friends, and fun. NYSMF provides outstanding musical challenges for both young musicians, with more than 50 ensembles & classes, performing as many as 50 professional-calibre concerts every summer. Students work 1-on-1 every day with our faculty, drawn from the finest musical institutions around the world, including Juilliard, Curtis, NYU, the Manhattan School of Music, the NY Pops Orchestra, and more. Our students also have opportunities to work with many exciting, world-renowned visiting artists from the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Chick Corea Band, the New York Philharmonic, the Vienna Philharmonic, and even the conductor/music director of the New York Pops Orchestra, Mr Steven Reineke.Students study extensively in the areas of Orchestras and bands for instrumentalist; choral ensembles and original music theatre projects for vocalist; Composition workshops; a number of jazz classes introducing new instruments, such as beginning piano and beginning guitar. NYSMF students may also take supplemental classes spanning a wide range of ability levels and interests in areas of: music history, theory, computer technology in music, film making, jazz improvisation, and many others!
